Barotrauma is a 2D co-op submarine simulator. Set on Jupiter’s Europa moon in the distant future, humanity’s choice for habitable environments continues to dwindle. While we can be ingenious at times, it does not guarantee our continued existence. So what are we to do when Earth is no longer liveable? In FakeFish and Undertow Games’, humanity chooses the oceans of Europa, employing the use of deep submarines.

New Frontiers

Developers have added some new goodies with the recent update. In addition to the new explorable outposts, they all come complete with their own AI occupants. Each outpost may have a set of scripted events, that devs say will change up the gameplay. This will add to the lore and background story of Barotrauma.

These outposts will also act as the trading, crew hiring, and service buying hub. Consolidating all the features should help new and old players.

Barotrauma’s campaign progression will also tie into a player’s boat. You start out with an unassuming machine. As the story moves forward and you earn more, you can acquire hull and machinery improvements. And while there is a default campaign sub, you’ll still be able to explore using one that is custom-built.

And instead of being stuck with the items you find, they can now be sold. It is also now possible to get to the end-game location. But beware, the ‘ending’ is still a work in progress. Check here to see where the official ending stands. You can also view Barotrauma news on other updates and bug fixes as well.
