Bandai Namco has announced the Namcot Collection coming to Nintendo Switch in Japan. The collection of retro Namco games will come with updated features and purchasable individual games.

The announcement was made in the Japanese Nintendo Direct. For those confused at the title, Bandai Namco used the title Namcot for its console publishing from 1984-1995.

The Namcot Collection will be a free download for anyone and comes with Wagyan Land to start. After that, players will have to purchase different games individually.

The games available to purchase include:

  • Pac-Man
  • Galaga
  • The Tower of Druaga
  • Battle City
  • Star Luster
  • Family Jockey
  • Yokai Dochuki
  • Dragon Spirit
  • Mendel Palace (Quinty)
  • Splatterhouse: Wanpaku Graffiti

While there are obvious favorites like Pac-Man and Galaga, the Namcot Collection also includes some less-popular additions. Personally, I am ready to take on the horse riding world in Family Jockey.

Namcot Collection Comes With Updated Game Features

The games are not just a straight port, as they come with several updated features. For example, the games have a pause and rewind feature. The collection also allows players to choose a variety of different display modes.

Besides playing the games, you can also sort and display the games however you would like.

The Namcot Collection will also release with a physical version, with the first set of games along with other bonuses. The physical version is priced at 2,400 yen, which comes to around $22.

With this set of games being the first, there is an opportunity for more Bandai Namco games to come to the collection to download.

There is no planned release of the Namcot Collection for the US, but crafty Switch players can get in on the fun. By creating a Japanese eShop account, players can download the collection and purchase games on that region’s store.
