Baldur’s Gate 3 has been out in the wild for a few days now. Most people agree that it’s good. Others claim it’s bad (in a weirdly elitist way). One thing everyone agrees on though is that it is filled with bugs! The game is riddled with them. Some of these bugs are minor and amusing, others are more serious. Much of this is forgivable, as Larian has repeatedly pointed out this is an Early Access release. There will be bugs, and things will fall over. It is somewhat dismaying to note though that despite being in Early Access, the game itself still costs a whopping $59.99! At least there has been plenty of Baldur’s Gate 3 updates to add some much-needed polish.

Baldur’s Gate 3 Updates Are Rapid

Larian is not a studio to rest on their laurels. The developers have been targeting these bugs with an impressively rapid series of Baldur’s Gate 3 updates. Seriously, the game has been out for four days and we’re already on patch number three. The list of fixes itself is pretty dry. A fix to stop steaming from merchants. Another to stop inventory crashes. There’s nothing revolutionary in there, but Larian’s commitment to getting Baldur’s Gate 3 stable for players is to their credit. It would have been easy for the developer to say “it’s Early Access – deal with it”. With that in mind, Larian deserves some praise.

People Are Boring!

Larian did however add a little extra into this update note. In addition to telling people to please not actually send them an RTX 3080, the developers have thrown shade at their own players. After gathering data on the most common selections used in the character creator, they were not impressed. I’ve included the character above. Look at him, with that safe “meet her parents” hair. The thousand-yard stare. Even his oddly chiseled chin. That’s the best you can come up with? This is a game with insane fantasy elements, and this is the best people could do? Go a little wild! Larian has put players on notice, with promises of more player insights in future Baldur’s Gate 3 updates. Make sure you don’t disappoint them!
