The long-awaited sequel, Baldur’s Gate 3, is getting its first gameplay footage at PAX East in Boston. Larian Studios released a behind the scenes video as well as showcasing the development team, actors, and musicians behind the roleplaying game.

Creative director for Larian Studios, Sven Vincke will play the gameplay live on stage at PAX in front of 1,000 attendees. However, for those who can’t attend the three-day-long convention, the gameplay will be live-streamed as well. During the presentation, Vincke will sit down with a question and answer session to help reveal more about the game’s setting, plot, and mechanics.

The development team will also show off the game at their booth after the live announcement. Larian Studios has hired around 350 people to work on the sequel and the RPG features more than 100 hours of content.

Baldur’s Gate 3 was announced at E3 in 2019 and it’s been more than 20 years since the series released a new game. Baldur’s Gate II: The Shadows of Amn released in 2000 followed by an expansion the next year. Enhanced versions of the originals released last year for the Xbox One, PS4, and Nintendo Switch. The third installment takes place in the city of Baldur’s Gate, a prominent location in Dungeons and Dragons lore. The plot involves alien creatures known as mind flayers invading the city and turning everyone into abominations.

The gameplay reveals for Baldur’s Gate 3 will premier February 27, 2020. PAX East runs through March 1.
