Druid lovers rejoice! Larian Studios is adding Druids in Baldur’s Patch 4. We all wanted it, we all craved it, and now it’s here. Larian Studios will soon be dropping an all-new “Patch 4” introducing the Druid class and other features and improvements to the game. The Druid class is a staple of D&D games and you’ll rarely find a heroic group without at least one druid. Now, you can opt for it in Baldur’s Gate 3 when starting a new campaign.

The Baldur Druids

The class has over 30 different spells and abilities. Next to that, druids can shape-shift into 8 different animals and creatures: Dire Wolf, Deep Rothe, Polar Bear, Spider, Raven, Cat, Badger, and Aberrant Shape. Each of these offers different advantages. For example, the Cat form is really good for stealth, while the Polar Bear form is awesome for when you want to cause some serious damage. The Aberrant Shape is somewhat different. It’s based on the game’s story. Apparently, the Druid can utilize the Mindflayer tadpole to transform into the Aberrant Shape. Races still remain very much the same, with no Duergar races being available as of yet.

Apart from the Druid class, Larian added some other features and quality of life improvements with Baldur’s Patch 4. Some new dialogues and scenes have been added to better suit Druid’s gameplay. For example, this IGN article explains that, should you find a bear blocking a path, you can simply talk to them – as a bear. The Loaded Dice will also be present. It is supposed to better balance D20 dice rolls in order to prevent streaks. The Loaded Dice is optional, so it’s up to you if you want to avoid insane luck. The cinematics had a slight touch-up. Some multiplayer gameplay options have been added. These include an overview of the parties’ inventory, spells, and stats and the ability to select them via portraits. The torch and flee actions have been added to the UI as well.
