After the release of next-gen consoles like the PS5, some games offer free upgrades to users. However, Persona 5 Royal Remastered won’t be one of those. Atlus has confirmed no free upgrade from PS4 to PS5. Thanks to backward compatibility, Persona 5 Royal is currently available on PS5, but the remastered version comes with bad news.
Atlus Has No Free PS5 Upgrade Plans for The Persona 5 Royal
Atlus, the developer studio of the game, says there are currently no plans to offer a free upgrade for the owners of the PS4 version. So, players should repurchase the PS5 remastered version to play the title on the PS5. Meanwhile, Xbox Game Pass will support the RPG game on the day of release on October 21st, 2022.
The PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch will have a physical version of the game, but the other platforms being digital only. Atlus has not yet revealed what awaits us in the PS5 remastered version of the game. However, according to the latest reports, features such as frame rate boost and a graphical refresh may come.
“If I have purchased the PlayStation 4 version of Persona 5 Royal, can I upgrade to the PlayStation 5 version of the game?”
“We apologize, but there are no products for PlayStation 4 purchasers of Persona 5 Royal for this title. We would appreciate it if you could purchase the game for PlayStation 5 to play the game on PS5.”
