The latest season of The Bachelorette saw a massive shift in its format. On top of the usual drama that fans expect with each outing, sometimes things need to be addressed after the fact. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Gabby Windey of The Bachelorette talked about the blackface picture of Erich Schwer, her new fiancée.

Before tackling the blackface photo of Erich Schwer, Bachelorette star Gabby Windey talked about how the show did not address the picture on-air for “transparency.” She acknowledged how she “unfortunately” does not “have a say” in what gets shown on-air or not. When it comes to the actual picture, she found it “devastating.”

As a couple, there is a lot for them to handle. The two Bachelorette stars, Gabby Windey and Erich Schwer, “have lots of learning and growing to do.”

Bachelorette star Gabby Windey talking about her fiancée’s picture is not the first time it has been discussed. This interview follows up when he apologized for the picture taken for his high school yearbook. In his Instagram post, he talked about how it was inspired by his “love for Jimi Hendrix” but realized the “hurtful implications.”

As much as audiences love reality TV drama, lines get drawn from both the cast and the fans. The blackface photo of Erich Schwer is an example, and when it comes to the future of The Bachelorette, Gabby Windey finds it hard to prevent it. Still, she thinks the show can “improve on everything,” like vetting the cast.

The full interview (linked above) went over things with the star and Rachel Recchia. The two talked about things like the last words to Tino, the editing choices of the season, diversity for the reality franchise, and the new format with two leads.
