For those unaware, Games Done Quick is an organization that puts on large, speedrunning events to raise money for charities. In the past, GDQ has donated millions of dollars to such charities as Doctors Without Borders and Prevent Cancer Foundation. Recently, the schedule for their next winter speedrunning marathon, Awesome Games Done Quick, was announced.

Awesome Games Done Quick 2018 will start on January 7, 2018 at about 8:30AM PST/11:30AM EST and will continue through January 14 at about 3:00AM PST/6:00AM EST. The event will see several different speedrunners attempting to beat many games at record-breaking speeds under different sets of speedrunning rules. Some speedrunners will be performing Any% runs, meaning they have to beat the main campaign of the game as fast as they can, regardless of how many levels they complete or how many collectibles they collect. Others will be attempting 100% runs, which require them to do everything available to them in the game as quickly as they can. Other speedrunners will be attempting to achieve specific endings in a certain amount of time or performing other specific requirements.

Some standout games that will be spedrun at this event include Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy, Splatoon 2, Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and Yooka-Laylee on Sunday, followed by Contra III: The Alien Wars, Donkey Kong Country 2, Sonic Mania and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater on Monday, then Castlevania: Symphony of the Night and Metroid Prime 3: Corruption on Tuesday, Battletoads and Super Mario Sunshine on Wednesday, Star Fox 2 and Owlboy on Thursday, Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy and Pokémon Black/White 2 on Friday, and the big finale of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild on Saturday. These are just a few of the many, many games that will be spedrun that week. You can check out the full schedule by clicking here.
