The official teaser trailer for the second Avatar installment, Avatar: The Way of Water, debuted online after exclusively playing in theaters before Marvel’s Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness this past weekend.

The Avatar 2 film comes 13 years after James Cameron’s original Avatar in 2009. The new film Avatar: The Way of Water is said to be set more than a decade after the events of the original. According to the description under the teaser trailer on the Avatar Youtube channel, Avatar: The Way of Water,
Who’s Starring in Avatar: The Way of Water?
Avatar 2 is directed by the iconic James Cameron, who also produced the film with Jon Landau. Avatar: The Way of Water brings back the original core cast, including Zoe Saldaña of Guardians of the Galaxy to reprise her role as the Na’vi princess Neytiri and Sam Worthington of Under the Banner of Heaven also returning as the human-turned-Na’vi, Jake Sully.
Also returning is Ghostbusters and Alien icon Sigourney Weaver as an entirely new character. CCH Pounder, Joel David Moore, Giovanni Ribisi, Matt Gerald, and more will reprise their original roles in the second Avatar film. Lastly, Stephen Lang returns as the dead Colonel Miles Quaritch and will be the main villain of the upcoming four movies.
Joining the cast is Oscar winner Kate Winslet, Fear of The Walking Dead’s Cliff Curtis, The Sopranos Edie Falco, and What We Do in The Shadows’ Jemaine Clement.
Avatar: The Way of Water is set to hit theaters globally on December 16th, 2022.
