The upcoming book from Dark Horse titled Avatar: Beasts of Four Nations has updated their book listing. The book promises to offer readers “a full look into the range of animals from the Avatar world, from the flying bison to the giant elephant koi.”

The Land of Avatar and Its Animals

As the creators say in the description, they hope to unite fans of all mediums with their diverse universe. Beasts of Four Nations was created to engage fans from all mediums. The television series, the comics, and the novel are all a part of a large canon universe. This means that there are endless possibilities to choose from. Animals serve as important aspects of the storytelling of the Avatar Universe. However, fans didn’t really gain any info on some animals other than their names and designs.

The book also says that it will provide insight into different animals that were not shown or mentioned. Beasts of Four Nations will also be a review of the animals in Avatar and their features. It will even mention some of the important plants and insect life as well.

Other art books revolving around the Avatar franchise didn’t quite hit the mark with fans. Many fans claim that both novels failed in the levels of detailing and creativity. The reviews for both books (i.e., Avatar: The Last Airbender: Legacy and The Legend of Korra: An Avatar’s Chronicle) claim that they just reiterated information that casual fans already knew. Because of these expectations, Beasts of Four Nations has the chance to break away from expectations and offer lovers of the world a deep and creative view.

The publish date for Avatar: Beasts of Four Nations is October 12, 2021.  At the same time, the publish date for Avatar: the Official Cookbook will be August 24, 2021. Both books are available for preorder on the following sites, though shipping dates will be much later than the publication dates.
