The video game developer Gust released the first game, Atelier Marie: The Alchemist of Salburg, as a Japanese exclusive on the PlayStation in 1997. In 2005, Koei Tecmo released Atelier Iris: Eternal Mana on the PlayStation 2. It was the first game in the series to come out in North America and Europe.
