Atari has released new concept art for an upcoming chain of video game-themed hotels and it looks incredible. The famous video game company known for classics like Pong, Asteroids, and Centipede announced the project back in January. It partnered with strategy agency GSD Group and real estate developer True North Studio to build the first hotel in Phoenix, Arizona. More locations were always part of the plan and we now know that Las Vegas, Nevada will be the second location. Others include Austin, Chicago, Denver, San Francisco, San Jose, and Seattle.
Earlier this month, GSD partnered with Gensler, a global design firm, to create new designs for Atari Hotels. And while the concept art in January was certainly sleek, the new images look like something out of the future. You can check out the latest designs below.
As the images may suggest, Atari Hotels will be much more than just a nice place to sleep. Each hotel will draw from both classic and modern gaming culture. Guests will be able to enjoy retro arcades as well as more immersive entertainment like AR and VR. In addition to playing games in a variety of ways, the amenities will all be themed around gaming. These include themed restaurants and bars, a speakeasy, and a nightclub. It sounds like there will be something for everyone, no matter your gaming tastes. Shelly Murphy, a Managing Partner for GSD Group, is extremely confident in how Atari Hotels will set itself apart:
The first two Atari Hotels are expected to open in 2022.
