Astral Chain has a hidden mini-game that the director wants you to find.

Astral Chain is already a massive hit for gameplay, aesthetics, plot, and replayability. It’s hard to imagine it could get much better, but throwing in a hidden 16-bit mini game?

Days before the release, Nintendo of Europe posted a Twitter update from Director Taura’s notes.

The game in question is called “Lappy Balloon,” featuring the canine mascot of the game’s police department, Lappy. A video guide was done by 100% Guides, pointing to the exact location for the mini-game, for you visual learners out there.

“There are a variety of missions in #ASTRALCHAIN, including a hidden 16-bit-style minigame. I like it a lot since you can feel some nice nostalgia while you recover mentally from the all the fighting. I hope you’ll try to find it.” pic.twitter.com/nAn3LrHXiS

To unlock and play the charming little game, players have to find Marie in the locker room and talk to her. She goes into some exposition about the game. According to Marie, Lappy is getting his own video game. The technical aspects are getting handled by another character off-screen, but she needs people to test it. You get asked if you want to play. Answer yes to play. If you answer no, you can come back and talk to Marie to play again.
