Combat in Astral Chain is a delicate dance between you and your Legion. You need to control both your character and their Legion, in a desperate and destructive ballet against the Chimera. While it is entirely possible to use basic attacks to finish fights, you can also use Sync Attacks. These are flashy looking dual attacks from your character and the Legion.
How To Perform Sync Attacks In Astral Chain
When you are using your player character to attack in Astral Chain, you will get an onscreen flash as you finish a combo. Your Legatus will flash bright blue, indicating it is time to try a Sync Attack. If you can hit the ZL button in time, your Legion will then perform a Sync Attack against the target.
Each Legion (there are different types you gain access to) performs unique Sync Attacks. All of them learn more as you level them up from the Legion Learning tab.
Sync attacks can do plenty of damage, so you want to maximize your potential in combat by using them whenever you can. Remember, you only have a single attack button for your player character. A majority of the complicated combat comes from controlling your character and Legion at once. You want to observe as you attack for the blue flash, then hit the ZL button to pull off a Sync Attack.
After a bit of practice, you should get this down and be able to pull it off every time.
