Astral Chain consists of challenging combat where you need to control your character expertly and their Legion at the same time. As such, it helps if you know how to change the difficulty. Not only because you might bite off more than you can chew, but because the rewarding combat system is something you master over time. Bumping up the difficulty as you progress is a great way to keep testing yourself.

How To Change Difficulty In Astral Chain

In Astral Chain, the difficulty is called playstyle. You can set the playstyle at the start of every Chapter, or File, and you can also change it by visiting your PC in Neuron HQ at the Police Station.

What Are The Playstyle Options In Astral Chain

To start with, you have three playstyles available to you, with a fourth one unlocking after you complete each file.

Unchained

The story mode, combat is automated, and you can watch as it all plays out.

Casual

Casual would match most other games Easy modes. You will have six revives available before you hit Game Over, and they will replenish with each file.

Standard PT

Standard PT would fall somewhere between Normal and Hard. You only get two revives, and your performance gets ranked after completing each File.

Ultimate PT

Ultimate PT is the most challenging mode, and only available after you beat each File, for that file. You have zero revives, but the ranking here means more.

It might take you a little while to figure out what your upper limits are with Astral Chain’s combat system. But you have plenty of options to explore by changing the playstyle.
