Cerberus is a boss fight that takes place in the Astral Plane. This giant three head dog has to be dealt with in File 3, but before that, you will need to get through the pack of hounds that likes to hang out with him.

Astral Chain: How To Beat Cerberus

The first stage of the Cerberus fight doesn’t make you fight Cerberus at all. Instead, you have to take on a pack of Chimera hounds that likes to follow him around. Thankfully they are easy enough to deal with, so pick them off one by one. Make sure you are using a finishing move to heal any damage you have taken, as you will want full health for the next part.

Once the pack has been dealt with, Cerberus will join the fray. Cerberus uses a combination of area-of-effect slam attacks and projectile attacks to do damage. This fight is all about dodging. Your tactics are limited because you will only have your Sword Legion unlocked at this point. You do have a secret weapon, however. By circling to the side of Cerberus, you can take advantage of Sword Legion’s Slash attack to land multiple hits and do serious damage. This should be your priority.

When Cerberus turns to face you, he will normally do a quick swipe attack. Rolling to dodge this opens up a strong melee attack for you. Make sure you are using your Baton mode so you can quickly land hits and follow up with a Sync Attack when you can. The braver you are in this fight, the higher the payoff, as well-timed dodges, slash attacks, and combos mean you can put an almost constant barrage of damage onto Cerberus.

Once his health gets low, he will jump across some platforms and start dropping red energy balls on you. Following him across the platforms as quickly as you can, then repeat the tactics you have already used.

From time to time, Cerberus will jump into the air, and come crashing back on top of you. Don’t bother trying to track him, spam your dodge roll to make sure he doesn’t land on top of you because he will do considerable damage if he does. This fight feels a bit like a skill-check to make sure you are learning how to time dodges and take advantage of the openings they give, so make sure you are comfortable with the mechanic, and this fight should be fine.
